After 5 enthusiastic Halloweens in the child-centric Orchard neighborhood, Connor seems to have lost his interest in the occasion having no idea of what he wanted to be for the ghoulish day/night. His school, however, was getting into the period with vigor so we persuaded him to at least dress up a little. They had a costume parade and contest and parties instead of lessons. Kids do not come door-to-door but people hand out candy on 5th Avenue (so we are told!). Escapee from the Insane Asylum. School parade. The following day we were invited to see the altars set up to commemorate Dia De Los Muertos (the day to remember those who have passed). Loved ones who have passed surrounded by their favourite things. Papier mache skulls. Feliz Dia De Los Muertos!
