Trolley Tour in Campeche

We booked this quintessential tourist activity and it was charming. It was of course, a little less amazing when the tour took us around the very neighbourhood in which we were staying, so maybe we should have done the tour earlier on! Independence Square Fisherman statue outside our local OXXO

Oct in San Pedro

I woke up before dawn on Monday, rather annoyingly,  because Jordan had the day off,  but was rewarded with a cloudy but lovely sunrise view and Cooper, the shyest cat, has warmed right up to me. We had Robin's jerk chicken for lunch and spent some time at the pool. Friday - Lovely visit to Connor's island school to catch up with Miss Mandy. The school now has 120 students up from 80 when Connor was there but the class sizes remain small. Toast for lunch and ran into Patty! Tried a few rounds of Cornhole. Sat - Lazy day, Kevin's BBQ for supper. Sun - A power outage for about 3 hours in the morning delayed caught us off guard as we have been quite spoiled by the continuously air conditioned home and, obviously, unlimited internet. One positive is you can really hear the beautiful sound of lapping waves when there is no hum of a fridge or clackety fans! Once the power returned and we could get ready we took a taxi into town with a plan to rediscover places we knew from when w...

Oct 10 - 16 - Waiting for the weekend and all about the cats

Thanksgiving Monday was a holiday and we enjoyed Robyn's Jerk Chicken. Then with J back to work, the week was filled with all the normal things of life but with warm weather and a fabulous view.  The cats continue to keep us entertained as they become more comfortable with us being their new guests!! Shopping, laundry, cooking at home. Daily cat care and making sure Homer stays on top of things, He has had exams.  Euchre with Gord and Jax Friday lunch at old Island Time now called Toast! Saturday - Went into town in search of cash and food - once again we were unable to debit cash and had to do another credit pull (grr) and The Hungry Grouper was not open so we ended up at Estelles which was fine but not necessarily what we would have chosen. Had nice views though! Sunday - Divina, chat with Hojo

Empty Nest Travel - Oct 2 -9, 2022 - Playa/Belize

Oct 2 Now our boy is in university and loving it, so we were comfortably able to start our winter travels again. This time, we decided to travel with only carry-on luggage - the decision-making was quite tough for me but it felt much easier having less to deal with and, realistically, we cycle through our favourite clothes anyway rather than caring about 'fashion'. Belize 2015 Belize 2022 The first leg was a short, overnight flight from Regina to Calgary, then a morning flight to Cancun. The trip was nice, with a mildly busy Calgary airport and a surprisingly not-busy Cancun airport. Notable differences were we didn't have to complete the FMM migration form which designated how long you could remain in Mexico but they made more than a few random stops of travellers to check their bags - ours were scanned in a very half-hearted fashion and we were on our way. We took the ADO bus to Playa and it looked and felt exactly as we left it. Our hotel for the night near the bus stati...
