Emergency - paging Doctor Beat!

So this hacking cough and cold of Jordan's was not letting go after a week of medication so he returned to the doctor's office for further consultation. After checking his blood pressure, the doctor was alarmed at the high readings and to be on the safe side, recommended that Jordan should go to the hospital for treatment to bring it down right away. We walked across to the Hospiten private hospital just outside the gates of Playacar around 11.30 AM and within minutes forms were filled out and Jordan was in an evaluation room with a triage nurse. Everyone was bilingual which was wonderful. They hooked him up to a blood pressure monitor and after a consultation with the doctor a number of tests were performed including blood tests, EKG and chest x-ray. Tae Kwon Do grading #2 - March 16

Connor has achieved his next level in Tae-Kwon-Do (Naranja 9 degree KUP/Orange belt).

Getting some fresh air and a quaint new restaurant.

After about a week of complete rest, Jordan felt ready to get out for some exercise. We rode our bikes northward about 25 minutes to trendy Mamitas/Kool beach and then took a half hour stroll with our feet in the water. Our usual hangout is at Playa Mar beach. Front of Mamita's beach club. Kool beach club. The beach has more rows of loungers and people at this end! Jordan had heard of a restaurant in that area called El Jardin so we decided to try it and were not disappointed.  Careful though, if you blink you might miss the hidden doorway entrance! We met the owner who proudly shared information about the regularly changing menu and the weekend live performances they have. Little oasis behind the gate. $95 peso/$6 CND special - cochinita pibil. Interesting stonework vanity in the restroom!

Minor medical

Jordan had been fighting with a deep chesty cough for over two weeks so it was time to see a doctor for the first time in Mexico. Doctor Romero at the clinic in Centro Maya gave him a thorough examination and concluded that he had a chest infection - the whole thing took about 15 minutes with the doctor's minimal English, our minimal Spanish and a lot of gesturing! The consultation was $45 pesos - $3 CDN!! He was given a prescription for antibiotics and a cough medicine.
