Sunday Nov 15
Took Connor for a quick walk up to the Quinta Allegra Mall as he is interested in some new shoes - it's really nice looking but has pricey stores.
Later we went to our old favourite restaurant Casa Sofia, and while it seemed to be doing quite well, every business in the plaza around it had succumbed to the effects of Covid. Unfortunately, like many things in life, the experience you had of place may not endure over time which ended up being the case. The food was just okay (pizza greasy, chicken dry), the service was inattentive and the atmosphere was kinda dull! Oh well, we have lots of other places we want to try.
We thought we might take a walk up Juarez Ave. with its multiple bargain shops and restaurants but it just felt too crowded so we headed home.
Finished the evening off with a customary trip to get ice cream!

Monday Nov 16
Feeling the effects of being old and had a bit too much sun exposure so taking things a bit slower today. Restarted practicing Spanish with Duolingo then had a gentle session at the gym with Connor while Jordan continued his workday.
Tuesday Nov 17
Had a bit more energy today so went walking at the sports complex we can see from the upper floor of our building. To enter you have to wear a mask, have your temperature checked and walk through a sanitization spray tent!

To get the 10K in, we went for a 5th Ave walk and were surprised to see Christmas making an early appearance! We had a 10-second heavy rain shower and it was super windy for the rest of the night. Storm's a-brewing!
Wednesday Nov 18
Duolingo day 3. Grocery haul, needed everything.

| $1200 MEX/$87 CDN |
Made sure to include some healthier food pyramid choices as well as taking advantage of the special offers.

Wine was 3 for the price of 2!

Went to the gym with Connor. The wind really picked up today and the rain came heavy and steady all evening so we had spaghetti and meat sauce and forewent the usual evening walk.
Thursday Nov 19
Couldn't sleep so got out of bed at the ridiculous time of 4.30 am. Felt a bit out of sorts so did nothing ALL day. The rain also did not let up until late afternoon. The boys went out to Buzos while I recovered lying on the couch.

| Connor's dish with head-on shrimp and escargot (he did not love it!!). |
Friday November 20
Felt better after a good sleep. Went for breakfast at PikNik then a stroll to the beach at Mamitas before Jordan started work. It is a non-school day for Homer so he stayed in bed.

At lunchtime, we walked to Quinta Alegria for Homer's shoes and Jordan picked up some cheap t-shirts. I practiced Spanish and washed the sheets.
For our evening walk, we stayed more local on 30th Ave and enjoyed street pizza and hamburgers, homemade mini fruit pie from a cart vendor and marquesitas.
Played online Euchre and video-chatted with Jax and Gord back in Ontario for a couple of hours. Going to make it our Friday night thing as Toronto is heading back into lockdown for a month.
Saturday Nov 21
Bike ride to Juarez , walked up to 45th found delicious lunch at Dona Juanita, a small local spot with authentic, freshly prepared food. I had a Chicken torta, Jordan had enchiladas de mole and 2 fresh real fruit juices ($250 pesos/16 CAD).

Night market at City Hall - tried some new foods for the first time. Loved, loved, loved the birria, the elote was just okay - not worth the giant kernel that was stuck in my tooth all the way home!!

Sunday November 21
Sunday Funday at the beach with Debbie. Fish and seafood lunch at La Tarraya then a little time soaking up the sun and splashing in the waves. It was way more crowded than our last visit but we were able to find a bit of space away from the beach clubs.
When we got home, we found that our kitchen sink had collapsed under the weight of some draining dishes!
Moral of the story, leave the dirty dishes in a pile on the counter I guess!!
